Close your eyes and imagine your home without a consistent water supply. Water is needed for daily needs such as drinking, cooking and cleaning. We often take for granted the importance of easy access to a clean water supply.
Imagine instead that ponds, water puddles, rivers and creeks are your only source of water. This is the case for some 200 villagers of Kampung Mangkapon Darat, Kampung Gunsali, Kampung Boribi, Kampung Mapad and Kampung Ranggal in Pitas, Sabah.
Through the MEKAR programme, Yayasan PETRONAS tackled this challenge head on by installing reliable water supply systems in these five villages, giving them the comfort and safety of a consistent water supply needed to live a fundamentally good life, especially during the dry season.
