In this NCEA Level 1 Physics (AS92047) revision video we unpack the two key thermal energy equations:
• 𝐸 = 𝑚𝑐Δ𝑇 for temperature changes (specific heat capacity)
• 𝐸=𝑚𝐿 for changes of state (specific latent heat)
We look at what each symbol means, how the particles are behaving, and how to decide which formula to use in exam questions. Then we walk through worked examples: heating water, melting ice and boiling water, with energy in joules and mass in kilograms.
This video is perfect revision before your AS92047 test or end-of-year exam.
✅ Aimed at: NCEA Level 1 Physics students (New Zealand)
✅ Focus: Thermal energy, specific heat capacity, specific latent heat
✅ Skills: Reading the question, choosing the correct equation, showing working and using correct units (J, kg, °C).
This video was made using notebookLM from my teaching notes, in a mad rush to have students ready for their exam next Thursday. Please feel free to like, share and do whatever.
