Flood threat looms large over Guwahati; Brahmaputra flows above danger level

Sand bags have been placed along the embankments of Brahmaputra in Fancy Bazaar, Machkhowa and Bharalumukh areas of the City as a preventive measure.
Heavy floods have also gripped the people of Panikhaiti. The raging waters of the Brahmaputra have inundated several villages in the region.
The rising waters have almost reached the roof level of the houses at Bajabari village. All the people of the village are taking shelter on rooftops of their houses.
