In this Ableton Live Sound Design tutorial, I’ll show you how to make any synth in Ableton Live sound more analog, warm, and exciting. It’s based on one specific device called Expression Control, which we use to imitate irregular parameter responses, creating a less sterile and more musical sound. I’m using Wavetable, but it works with any synth in any DAW—all you need is a modulator. The trick is inspired by the dispersion feature of the Arturia Jupiter 8 plugin, which I transferred to a more global DAW situation.
