Eagles Blow Out Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX! Kay Adams Reacts to What's Next for Both Teams

Описание: We’ve seen bigger blowouts and more lopsided games on this stage…but a lot of those we kind of saw coming. To absolutely rip apart THIS Chiefs team…that looked so locked in on a 3-peat…it’s just stunning. Of course you have to give Vic Fangio a ton of credit. The 6 sacks – 2-and-a-half from Josh Sweat, who’s about to get broken off in free agency. The 2 picks, the pick-six…the only time I’ve seen Mahomes look anywhere near that uncomfortable was during the Tampa Super Bowl. It was a defensive masterpiece…and I loved seeing it for a guy who’s consistently been one of the best defensive coordinators I’ve had the pleasure to watch during my time covering this league.

But there’s this part of it too…that makes it that much more incredible…
KC almost completely took Saquon out of this game. I think if you told people before this one that Saquon would be held to just 2.3 yards per carry…pretty much no one would have thought it would result in a Philly win – let alone complete domination. But it all just speaks to how freaking complete this squad is top to bottom…and how damn good Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts was all game long.

The Chiefs defense put Philly behind the sticks early and often…and Jalen responded pretty much every time. Outside of the one interception, he beat the brakes off of those Spags blitzes…he used his legs for some key 3rd down conversions – leading the Eagles in rushing by the way. And he hit that 46-yard DAGGER to DeVonta Smith late in the 3rd quarter too. You can’t play any better than he played last night. And there is NOTHING left for anyone to say. He is a made man. 4 years as a starter…4 trips to the playoffs…2 trips to the Super Bowl…and now he has a Super Bowl ring and an MVP.
He also becomes just the 3rd QB in history to start and win both a Super Bowl and a national championship, alongside Joe Montana and Joe Namath. This man has had one heck of a journey since he took over the starting job as just a freshman at Bama and led them to the title game. He is a winner through and through…and he has just entered a whole other class after last night.

And I have to say…I can’t stop thinking about my trip to Eagles training camp at the end of July. It was the first day in pads…Sirianni had guys hurling in that Philly heat…the vibe was just different there. The intensity of practice was a huge thing. “Relentless” was the the theme of camp. And I remember sitting with Brandon Graham as he talked to me about his plans to retire…and there was no “one game at a time”. All he wanted to talk about was the Super Bowl and it’s like he manifested this whole thing.

Goosebumps. That was over 6 months ago. He spoke this into existence over and over again that day. It’s a near miracle that he even played in this game after that triceps injury was supposed to end his season. He didn’t get the sack on Mahomes he told me he wanted, but he did pressure him a few times and tackle him once. He said after the game that he wasn’t ready to have the retirement convo yet…but if this was it, what a way to go out.
And on the Chiefs side of things…there’s a lot to unpack. As for the game itself, the decision to become one-dimensional while this game was still close early was something I want to dig into with Freeney here in a little bit. I know the Eagles D-Line is awesome, but they called 12 passes to just 1 run on their first 13 plays…and I feel like it allowed that Philly pass rush to pin its ears back and go to work.

And then a lot of the issues that we brought up throughout the year – the ones that felt like heavy lifting because the Chiefs kept winning – they all kind of came up last night. The o-line and Mahomes not looking super comfortable with what was going on in protection even when there wasn’t pressure. The receivers outside of Worthy not really making plays. The inability for the defense to create pressure on the QB without blitzing. The secondary struggling to hold up when they brought pressure. It just all seemed to go wrong at once last night.
