Ever felt like you just want to build an armored bunker underground and completely shut the
world out? Meet Fredric Maxwell, an old frontier veteran who did exactly that on the freezing,
hostile world of Dulcimer. But survival gets a lot more complicated when a catastrophic
nitrogen blizzard hits, and a chaotic, rock-hoarding native alien named Grok Thirteen
decides to adopt you.
I really wanted to explore a deeply human concept with this piece: the walls we build to
protect ourselves from pain are often the exact things that trap us. As the creative director
for this project, I focused heavily on crafting a deeply atmospheric, "Visual ASMR"
experience. The procedural world-building, the sound design of the howling storm, the
claustrophobic warmth of the amethyst pod—it’s all designed to pull you right into
Saddleback Basin.
