Описание: BIG-PLUS is a dual contact spindle system where the shank contacts the spindle taper and the spindle face simultaneously, resulting in increased tool rigidity. The current market contains many suppliers of dual contact tooling who are NOT licensed for BIG-PLUS. Without the license, they have neither the exclusive gages nor dimensions and tolerances for the critical relationship of taper to flange. We acquired many of these tools from all regions of the world and inspected them with our gages. This is what we found and how you can test your dual contact tool holders.

Not all dual contact tooling is the same! BIG-PLUS Dual Contact works on a very small amount of spindle elastic deformation. Taper contact before clamping is very important and therefore the dimension and tolerance for the flange face is extremely critical to achieving dual contact.

There are 3 possible outcomes depending on the actual tool holder specification:

1. Proper fit of taper and flange face after clamping.
2. Flange contact only causing poor runout accuracy, sever chatter or even spindle damage.
3. Taper contact only, which voids the benefits of BIG-PLUS features and works the same as taper-only contact tooling.
