After Solomon bravely resists the cruel carpenter Tibeats, the humiliated man seeks revenge. Returning with two accomplices, they drag Solomon to an open field and attempt to hang him from a tree 🌳—a brutal act meant to restore Tibeats’ “authority.”
Solomon struggles desperately, his feet kicking the dirt, gasping for air 💔. Other enslaved people watch, terrified, unable to help. Just as Solomon is about to lose consciousness, the overseer intervenes with a rifle, halting the lynching—not out of mercy, but to protect Master Ford’s “property.”
