Wildlife in the Sun & Rain: January UK Wildlife and Nature Photography

Описание: January 2026 was one of the wettest months on record, but for a wildlife photographer, the rain isn’t a reason to stay inside—it’s an opportunity. In this video, I’m sharing a collection of images and clips captured during the storms and showers of this last month.

There is a specific kind of magic that happens when the world is soaked: the colors become more saturated, the light softens, and the animals show a side of their lives we rarely see.

📸 Featured Gear: The Canon R5 + RF 100-500mm
Shooting in the heavy rain of January 2026 really put the Canon R5 and the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM to the test.

Weather Sealing: Both the R5 and the 100-500mm are L-series weather-sealed. Even in constant drizzle, the gaskets held up perfectly. Tip: I still recommend a rain sleeve for peace of mind during heavy downpours!

Low Light Performance: With the lens hitting f/7.1 at 500mm, the dark January skies meant pushing the R5’s ISO higher than usual. Thanks to the R5's sensor and some modern noise reduction, the files remained incredibly clean.

Autofocus in the Mist: Even with rain blurring the background, the R5’s Animal Eye AF remained sticky, locking onto birds and mammals through the droplets.

Stabilization: The combined IBIS and Lens IS allowed me to drop my shutter speed slightly to compensate for the dark clouds without losing sharpness.
