Art for Amnesty is Amnesty International's hugely successful artist engagement programme - or as founder Bill Shipsey puts it, Amnesty's 'off balance sheet special forces'.

Since its incorporation in 2003, it's been a flagship for the message of how art, hope and human rights can go hand in hand to achieve meaningful change int he face of repressive regimes.

Bill is a human rights activist, former barrister and founder of Art for Amnesty, the global artist engagement programme for Amnesty International. He was also involved in the organisation for the famous Conspiracy of Hope and Human Rights Now! Amnesty tours in the late 80s, which helped establish Amnesty International as a formidable cultural and political entity.
