Very sad to hear of the passing of Burke Shelley today. I realised that I have only ever featured Budgie on this channel once early last year.
So this is an off the cuff rendition of one of my fave songs from the Welsh legends. It has been some time since I played this and it shows. There's no way I was attempting Tony's guitar solo - even being zonked out on painkillers for my toothache.
Budgie didn't come on my radar until, like most things, 1980, when I was 14 and realised that a life in Metal beckoned for me. So, while I saw them a few times over the years, it was never the classic line up. Although it was the classic songs. Strangely, I did see Tony and Ray when they did a Scottish tour with their new band Tredagar. In Bathgate, of all places.
Anyhow, another sad day for Rock, another good man gone.
No fancy intro, video editing, or anything on this, just a run through of a song I love by band who were a huge influence on the Rock and Metal scene.
