A devastating flash flood hit Nepal’s Rasuwa district bordering Tibet on Wednesday, causing widespread destruction. The areas around Syabrubesi and Timure are reportedly among the worst affected. Several villages and hydropower projects are believed to have been swept away by the floodwaters. Reports suggest that around 1,000 people may have been swept away, although the figure has not been officially confirmed. The Nepalese government has deployed police, army personnel and rescue teams to the affected areas. The Bhote Koshi River originates in Tibet and later joins the Trishuli River, whose waters eventually enter India as the Gandak River. The same region witnessed a devastating flood last year.

तिब्बत से सटे नेपाल के रसुवा जिले में बुधवार को अचानक आई भीषण बाढ़ ने भारी तबाही मचा दी। स्याफ्रूबेसी और टिमुरे इलाके सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित बताए जा रहे हैं। कई गांवों और हाइड्रोपावर परियोजनाओं के बाढ़ में बहने की खबर है। करीब 1000 लोगों के बह जाने की सूचना सामने आई है, हालांकि इसकी आधिकारिक पुष्टि अभी नहीं हुई है। नेपाल सरकार ने राहत और बचाव के लिए पुलिस, सेना तथा अन्य टीमों को मौके पर भेजा है। भोटे कोशी नदी तिब्बत से निकलकर आगे त्रिशूली नदी में मिलती है, जिसका पानी भारत में गंडक नदी के रूप में पहुंचता है। पिछले साल भी यहां भीषण बाढ़ आई थी।
