₹19.10 Lakh bank sn@tching in Jalandhar found ‘Fake’; Couple staged theft for insurance claim

Описание: What was initially reported as a daring daylight sn@tching of ₹19.10 lakh outside HDFC Bank in Urban Estate Phase-2, Jalandhar, has now been exposed as a staged crime. Police investigations revealed that the alleged robbery was orchestrated by the couple themselves in an attempt to claim insurance and misappropriate loan-related funds.
Earlier, the woman had told police that two bike-borne youths att@cked her with a sharp object and fled with a bag containing ₹19.10 lakh while her husband was parking the car. The couple, who run an artificial jewellery shop, Verma Artificial Jewellery, claimed that they had withdrawn ₹17.10 lakh from a bank in Vijay Nagar and added ₹2 lakh from home.
However, during the probe, police uncovered inconsistencies in their statements. It was found that the couple had allegedly roped in one of their own workers, offering him money to carry out the “sn@tching” drama. The plan was reportedly aimed at claiming insurance and diverting loan funds.
The accused couple has been taken into custody, and the motorcycle used in the fake theft has also been recovered. Police officials stated that strict legal action will be taken against all those involved in staging the false robbery and misleading the authorities.
