Join me as I install and play around a bit (including getting online to check out some nifty websites, both public and private) with the very first release of Fedora Linux, known as Fedora Core 1, codename "Yarrow", on a virtual machine emulated by 86Box, which features low-level, highly accurate hardware emulation.
Released on November 6, 2003, Fedora Core 1 was the point at which Red Hat shifted how the develop and release their Linux distributions for the community and the enterprise, with Fedora Core (later changed to simply Fedora) serving as the bleeding edge and the free (as in beer as well as speech) version of what eventually is further refined and ultimately released as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The emulated, or virtual, machine used here features a Celeron at 433 MHz, 256 megabytes of RAM and an 8 gigabyte hard drive, as well as a 48x CD-ROM and various other removable drives. This is about as fast a system as 86Box can emulate at full speed on this host system, which has a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU.
I hope you enjoy the content! If you do and would like to support what I do, I have lots of designs available on apparel, mugs, phone cases and other products at TeePublic (https://www.teepublic.com/user/kybert...) and Printful (https://kybertechnik.printful.me).

And last but not least, there is always liking and subscribing!
Thank you!
