Sindh (/sɪnd/; Sindhi: سنڌ; Urdu: سندھ, pronounced [sɪnd̪ʰ]; historically romanized as Sind) is one of the four provinces of Pakistan. Located in the southeast of the country, it is the home of the Sindhi people.[5][6] Sindh is the third largest province of Pakistan by area and the second-largest province by population after Punjab. Sindh is bordered by Balochistan province to the west and Punjab province to the north. Sindh also borders the Indian states of Gujarat and Rajasthan to the east and the Arabian Sea to the south. Sindh's landscape consists mostly of alluvial plains flanking the Indus River, the Thar desert in the eastern portion of the province closest to the border with India, and the Kirthar Mountains in the western part of Sindh.
Umerkot[a] (Urdu: عُمَركوٹ, Dhatki عُمَركوٹ), Sindhi (عمرڪوٽ) formerly known as Amarkot,[2] is a city in Umerkot District in the Sindh province of Pakistan. The city was the birthplace of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is the 68th largest city in Pakistan.
Archaeological Museum Umerkot or Umerkot Museum is an archaeological museum established in 1968, situated inside the Umerkot Fort which is located in Umerkot District, Sindh Province, Pakistan.[1]
Naukot Fort is a fortification that was established by Mir Karam Ali Khan Talpur in 1814.[1] It is situated in Mithi Taluka, Tharparkar District, approximately 64 km in the south of Mirpur Khas town, Sindh. Its location gave it its other common name, "The Gateway to the Thar Desert".[2] It is meant to guard the area against the Rajputs.[3]
Tharparkar (Sindhi: ٿرپارڪر, Urdu: تھرپارکر ) also known as Thar, is a district in Sindh province in Pakistan headquartered at Mithi. The district is the largest in Sindh,[5][6] and has the largest Hindu population in Pakistan.[7][8][9] It has the lowest Human Development Index rating of all the districts in Sindh.
Mithi (Dhatki: مِٺي, Urdu: مِٹّھی), is a Taluka and the capital of Tharparkar District in the Sindh province of Pakistan. It became the district headquarter of the Tharparkar District in 1990, after the area's separation from Mirpur Khas.[3] Mithi is one of the very few regions in Pakistan where Muslims do not form a majority. More than 80% of the population in this region belongs to the Hindu community. Both Hindus and Muslims reportedly live peacefully and there have been no reports of religious intolerance.[4]
