Subaru's Hill Descent Control (HDC), part of the X-MODE system, helps maintain a constant speed when descending steep hills, especially in challenging conditions like snow or ice. The system manages throttle and braking, allowing the driver to focus on steering, and is typically engaged when the vehicle is going downhill at speeds below 20 km/h.
Here's how it works:
Automatic Engagement:
HDC is automatically engaged when the vehicle detects a descent and the X-MODE button is activated.
Speed Control:
HDC maintains a constant speed, typically under 20 km/h (12 mph), by modulating the engine and braking system.
Braking Management:
