Summer Railfanning with GIO/Trillium Railway (LDSX 7920)

Описание: The first half of this year has been extremely busy for me and I have not had much time for railfanning, but I did manage to get away on a sunny Friday recently to spend some time on the Trillium Railway. It's been about a year since I last did any railfanning in the Niagara area so this was somewhat of a scouting run, to see what had changed over the last few months.

Trillium Railway, operated by parent company GIO Railways Corporation, begins their day at Feeder, a location that serves as a crew base and shop track; these days, a few ex-CN, IC, and BCOL GE Dash-8's sit at Feeder also, awaiting the torch at SLM Metals in Welland. At the time this was filmed, Trillium's ex-CP RS-18u #1859 was out of service and with LDSX #4100 painted in GIO colours already, the old MLW faces a very uncertain future.

On this day, two jobs were running; the first would be the Port Colborne job, and the second would spend the day switching Verbio, a manufacturer of biodiesel and the railways' largest customer. I spent most of this day with the Port Colborne job, powered by ex-CN SW900 LDSX #7920. The small GMD switcher put on a good show lugging 10 cars down the Harbour spur, and switching out cars loaded with flour for Ardent Milling, which uses the old Robin Hood elevator as a rail-to-truck transload facility.

This was a simple day railfanning, but it felt good to get back into the swing of things. I hope to get back to roughly one video every two weeks moving forward, and there is some good stuff coming. Though I haven't done a lot of railfanning so far this year, I did make two trips out to chase CP 2816, first across the Canadian Prairies, and later through Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. Those videos should up in the next month or so, along with lots of other, more local railfanning.
