Capture One just introduced "Match Look"—a one-click tool that lets photographers recreate the post-production style of any image. But how well does it actually work? In this video, I test it using a Jack Bridgland style low-res JPEG and an old TIFF file to see if it really holds up.
Capture One recently released Match Look, a new feature that allows photographers to instantly replicate the colour, contrast, and tonal characteristics of any reference image. This could be a game-changer for workflow efficiency, but what does it mean for photographers who have spent years refining their own distinct visual style?
In this video, I put Match Look to the test, experimenting with:
A Jack Bridgland low-res JPEG to see how it adapts to a high-contrast, bold aesthetic.
An older TIFF file to assess its accuracy on different formats.
The limitations and potential of this feature for real-world use.
I’ll be diving deeper into Match Look in a future video, but for now, here’s my first impression: It’s surprisingly effective even without further manual adjustment. But does it mean that signature editing styles can now be automated? There’s a lot to discuss.
