Day 4 We started our day in a campsite in Vik then headed to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach on the South coast known for its dramatic scenery, including basalt columns, Sea caves, striking sea stacks formed from volcanics rock. its also know for its dangerous " sneaker waves". The day we were there the seas were relatively calm. We were hopeful to see some puffins but I think we missed the by a week or two.
Our next stop was Fjadrargljufur is a stunning serpentine canyon in southwest Iceland known for its steep moss covered walls and the Fjadra river winding through it. Its a popular hiking trail offering spectacular views from above. Its 300 feet deep and 1.2 miles long.
Falljokull the falling glacier is a dramatic outlet glacier of Iceland's massive Vatnajokull icecap located in the Skaftafell Nature Reservein Southeastern Iceland.
Jokulsarlon & Fjalsarlon Diamond Beach area. Jokulsarlon is larger and more famous, connected to the sea (Diamond beach) with massive icebergs. Fjallsarlon is smaller and gives closer views of glaciers, often with glaciers and icebergs in the same spot. We also saw a seal coming down towards Diamond Beach.
We rented a TYR campervan from www.camper.is from Reykjavik
