I've to confess that I'm not a big meat eater but the Dumba Karahi was a new experience. This place is hidden in plain sight. Ilyas Dumba Karahi is the oldest of the shops serving mutton casseroles at Truck Adda in Lahore, near old vegetable market behind Data Darbar area. You can choose your cut of the meat from the whole sheep carcass, get it boneless or bone-in or mince. Select your spices and the chefs will make it for you the way you prefer. It takes at least 1 hour because the meat is not cooked in pressure cookers. So expect a wait. The place is open air with a huge canopy and no walls. Fresh tandoori bread and Kabuli Qahwa is available. There is a family area in one corner but this restaurant is a bachelors hound.
