Day 1 – The Day of Travel
Sometimes, the best adventures start with a simple bus ride. On August 14th, 2025, we left Munich behind and boarded a FlixBus, heading south toward Italy. The ride was smooth—just four hours—and as the landscapes shifted from Bavarian fields to alpine valleys, excitement kept building. By the time we reached Bolzano, we already felt the air changing—cleaner, crisper, carrying whispers of the Dolomites.
Our base for this trip was the beautiful Hotel Greif, a perfect blend of modern comfort and Italian charm, right in the heart of Bolzano. The evening was quiet—we strolled through the piazza, enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the city, and got an early night, knowing that tomorrow would be the adventure we had been waiting for.
Day 2 – The Dream of Seceda
The next morning, August 15th, was the highlight of our journey. We woke up early, grabbed our day packs, and caught Bus 350 from Bolzano straight toward one of the Dolomites’ most iconic spots: Seceda.
After a scenic ride, we reached the cable car station. The moment the gondola lifted off, we knew we were heading somewhere special. As the cable car climbed higher, the valley opened up beneath us—lush meadows, wooden huts, winding trails—and then suddenly, the dramatic jagged ridges of Seceda appeared on the horizon.
At the top, words simply failed. The panorama was unreal: sharp limestone peaks rising like giant guardians, rolling green hills stretching endlessly, and clouds drifting lazily above the mountains. We hiked, explored, and sat quietly at times—just taking it all in. Every angle was picture-perfect, but no lens could capture the feeling of standing there, surrounded by the raw power of nature.
It was a full day of awe and wonder, and by the time we descended back to Bolzano, our legs were tired, but our spirits were soaring.
Day 3 – Soprabolzano & Ritten Bahn
On August 16th, our final day, we chose a slower, more peaceful adventure. From Bolzano, we headed up to Soprabolzano, a charming plateau above the city, where time seems to move at a different pace. From there, we boarded the Ritten Bahn, a historic narrow-gauge railway that glides gently through meadows and forests, revealing breathtaking views of the Dolomites in the distance.
It was the perfect way to say goodbye—no rush, just the quiet beauty of alpine villages, the scent of pine in the air, and the kind of scenery that lingers in your heart long after you leave.
By afternoon, it was time to return. At 4:10 pm, we caught our FlixBus back to Munich, watching the mountains fade in the distance through the window, carrying with us not just photos, but memories that will stay forever.
Why This Trip Was Special
This wasn’t just a two-day escape—it was a reminder of why we travel: to feel small against nature’s grandeur, to slow down and breathe deeply, and to find joy in places where beauty is everywhere you look. The Dolomites gave us all of that and more, and we can’t wait to return someday.
