We boarded Ladona on 16 July 2018. Sailed out of Rockland Maine on 17 July, returning 21 July. Had the most fabulous weather imaginable. Blue sky, fluffy clouds on horizon, day temps in 70s, night 50/60s, perfect breeze for sailing.
Captain J.R. and crew--Jenny, Anna, Alice, and Pepper--treated us to several days of fun, food, and fraternity. Food. Did I say food? I wanted to take our cook, Anna, home with me.
To top it all off, we met and tied up with the Stephen Taber on our last night. With stage-like timing, a made-to-order fog rolled in, setting a silky mood for a night of soothing acoustic music performed by captians and crew from both scooners.
The next morning we set out for Rockland in a light fog, which gradually lifted, then opened up to clear skies allowing us to view Rockland from a distance before entering the harbor. Magical.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone, especially if you love sailing. And enjoy a nurturing environment, in all senses of those two words.
