House of Kolor Pin Striping Tips and Trick

My name is Jim Hetzler. I'm here in the House of Kolor booth SEMA 2014. And I've got a pretty helpful tip that seems to work really well for the pin stripes. I'm gonna prepare my paint put it into the cup and I’m palliating into a Dixie cup now the key and the trick is we are going to reduce with House of Kolor hardener. Everybody thinks that when you put the hardener in the paint is going to harden up really fast in actuality they hardener acts as a retarder and makes the paint actually last the whole lot longer without adding reducer to it. Eight-parts paint one part hardener we are going to mix that up now you're all set to go if you need to you can use the pin striping reducer the U00. But I’m reducing that actually with the KU 200 that makes my palliating in my paper cup last probably up for at least a half an hour before actually have to add any reducer to it. One of the reasons we're palliating into the cup is because the striping paint doesn't want to drive very fast and if your palate on the flat like a lot of pin stripers do it will set up really fast. This gives you the opportunity to be able to palate right there on the cup and be able to pull your lines right onto the surface and when you want to reload the brush you get your palate and you just keep on going from there. I haven't even gone back to the thinner at all I'm still using the same paint that I mixed using just the think KU 200 the catalyst and I just keep on pin striping from there. The use of the KU 200 as a reducer for your pin striping paint would be the easiest ways to reduce keep your flow going it actually adds the retarder but at the same time it adds gloss to it too. It’s also necessary to use the KU 200 if you're pin striping on top of a clear coat or as a basecoat clear coat also so it actually protects in both situations.
