The US military’s CENTCOM division released a statement tonight saying the US “conducted self-defense strikes on Iranian radar and command and control sites for drones in Goruk, Iran and Qeshm Island this weekend... [The] strikes occurred on Saturday and Sunday in response to aggressive Iranian actions that included the shootdown of a U.S. MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters.” In response, at 11:28pm ET Iran’s Revolutionary Guard forces announced they had attacked the US base from which an attack on Iran's Sirik Island originated “an hour ago,” and targets on the US base were destroyed. Around this same time, Kuwait said its air defenses were responding to hostile missile and drone threats. Additionally, Israel says it will soon carry out strikes against Hezbollah in Beirut, Lebanon.
