In a major step towards sustainable public transportation, the Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced the launch of a modern electric green bus service in the Sargodha Division. This initiative aims to provide eco-friendly, affordable, and efficient travel options to the public while significantly reducing the region’s carbon emissions and urban air pollution.

The project will initially roll out 48 electric buses across different cities in Sargodha Division. Specifically, 12 buses will operate in Khushab, while Mianwali and Bhakkar will each get 6 buses. These buses are equipped with zero-emission technology, air-conditioned cabins, smart ticketing systems, and real-time tracking, offering a comfortable and modern commuting experience. The service is expected to be operational by August 2025.

This landmark project is part of Punjab’s broader green transport strategy, aligning with global goals to combat climate change and promote sustainable urban mobility. The initiative not only enhances transportation but also supports Pakistan’s commitment to a greener future by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and encouraging the use of electric public transport.
