It’s complicated.
It’s painful.
And it’s messy.

Because here’s the truth: it’s possible to feel sympathy and compassion, while also feeling anger and resentment about the impact of the past.

We don’t often talk about what it’s really like to care for someone who hurt you — or how addiction ripples through families long after the fact. I wanted to share our experience, honestly and unfiltered, in case you’re going through something similar.
