While visiting some colleagues at the Bimini Sharklab in the Bahamas, we had the opportunity to visit a site where Great Hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna mokarran) are known to frequent on a semi-regular bases. Luck was with us that day and we were fortunate enough to have an incredible diving experience with several of these difficult to observe animals.
Freediving as shown here is often used to either place identification/tracking tags on sharks or to read the tag identity of sharks passing through the area.
