Positive teens: The plight of adolescents living with HIV/AIDs

Although Kenya has made significant progress in the fight against HIV and Aids, the rate of young people diagnosed with HIV is rising, a situation that threatens future generations.
Many children now living with HIV were infected at birth. Many of them have survived into their teens and are now transitioning to the adolescent stage. This is a critical stage, because many want to experiment and engage in risky behaviour.
Little has been done to educate adolescents about reproductive health information, hence the rising cases of new HIV infections among this age group. However early this year the government rolled out a campaign to reach all children, adolescents and young people affected by HIV and AIDS.
NTV's Rose Wangui spoke with some adolescents living positively with HIV in Homa bay county, who shared their stories on how they felt when they first found out about their HIV status, their personal struggles and victories of living with HIV. Here is POSITIVE TEENS.
