The building of the Gothic style Buda Castle Royal Palace started in the mid 14th century, and lasted almost until the end of the 15th century. Along the years, several monarchs extended and decorated the buildings.
Since 1987 Budapest Buda Castle quarter is the part of the UNESCO World's Heritage. "It is one of the world's outstanding urban landscapes and illustrates the great periods in the history of the Hungarian capital."
