Maharashtra Transporters Announce Indefinite Strike Over E-Challan

Описание: Transporters across Maharashtra have announced an indefinite strike starting Thursday midnight, protesting against the alleged misuse of the e-challan system and what they call arbitrary penalties.
The decision was taken after talks between transport union leaders and Transport Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar failed on Wednesday evening.
Under the strike, trucks, tempos, tourist buses, taxis, private cabs and autorickshaws are expected to go off the roads across the state.
The Maharashtra Transport Action Committee confirmed that the protest will continue until the government addresses their concerns regarding e-challans and penalties.
The Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), representing nearly 80,000 private car owners, has also extended support to the protest.
Meanwhile, school buses will operate on Thursday morning but are likely to stop services from Friday if the strike continues.
Authorities have warned that the protest could lead to major travel disruptions in Mumbai and several other cities across Maharashtra.
