Welcome to Lesson 2 of Jump into Art Journaling with Teens in the Classroom! In the lesson 2 video, we will discuss the importance of showing students different ways to create backgrounds. Then, I will show you two different techniques that you can show your students to help them with creating exciting backgrounds.
Backgrounds are one of the first things that I focus on when I am teaching art journaling. I found that when I didn’t focus on that first, students were not putting any backgrounds on their pages. Once I introduced background techniques, their pages and confidence skyrocketed. In addition, it is fun to learn something new, explore, and create without any pressure to make something beautiful to hang on the wall. Art is such a huge stress reliever for many students.
