"Ukrainian Voices – Stories of Freedom" solidarity evening at Det Ny Teater

On February 22, 2026, Ukraine House in Denmark, the Danish Cultural Institute, and Det Ny Teater gathered more than 900 people to stand with Ukraine, two days before the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The event featured readings of texts by Mykola Khvylovy, Lesya Ukrainka, Vasyl Stus, Oksana Zabuzhko, Viktoriia Amelina, Iryna Tsilyk, Artur Dron, and Valerii Puzik, delivered in both Ukrainian and Danish. In Ukrainian, the texts were performed by actors Rymma Ziubina and Andriy Fedinchyk, while Iryna Tsilyk and Artur Dron read their own texts. The Danish voices for the readings were provided by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Bodil Jørgensen, Ellen Hillingsø, and Christine Børge.
Oleksandra Matviichuk, a human rights defender and Nobel prize laureate, joined the evening as a keynote speaker. Her speech touched upon the stakes of Ukrainian resistance — for Ukraine, for Europe, and for all of us.
This evening would not feel the same without the National Ensemble of soloists Kyivska Camerata with the leader and soloist Bogdana Pivnenko, conductor Bohdan Plish and soloists Ivanna Plish, Oleksandra Stetsiuk, and Denys Krutko.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this moving and powerful evening at the theater. Remember to stand with Ukraine. And even more so — to act for Ukraine.
