How to Install and Setup an Ecobee Smart Thermostat with 1-Gang

⚠️ Important Notes:
I paid for this thermostat with my own money. This video is not sponsored.
My previous thermostat was mounted to a 1-gang electrical box, not flush on drywall.
Since there wasn’t enough drywall surface to mount the ecobee wall plate properly, I used a 3D printed bracket.

Note: I had to drill a hole in the bracket to accommodate the wall plate for my specific model.

🎨 I also repainted the wall behind the thermostat after installation for a cleaner look.

If you don’t have a 3D printer and you don’t have enough drywall to mount the ecobee to drywall, you could try:

Drilling holes into the wall plate that align with the 1-gang box
Drywalling over the electrical box except for a hole for the wires for the thermostat.
