The P&LE had been a subsidiary of Penn Central at this time and was highly profitable.
Which is why the P&LE filed a lawsuit saying they didn’t want to be included in Conrail as they were still kicking strong. Plus, Penn central owed the P&LE 15.2 million, so once again, the P&LE was allowed to be their own company.
The U25B’s were withdrawn in the early 80’s following the purchased of ex Rock Island Geeps. A few did find new homes on the TTI, but were later scrapped.
