The Problem With The Dark Knight Returns Adaptations

Описание: While Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are the fathers of the dark gritty superhero hero, there's no question that the Dark Knight Returns is the grandfather of them all. It's one of Batman's most famous comics, and one of the most popular and revered comics of all time. And for good reason.

As you'd expect of a beloved comic, it's been adapted in some way or another throughout the years. Sometimes, you get stellar adaptations, like The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 and Part 2.

Other times...you get The Dark Knight Rises and Batman vs. Superman.

These two are divisive for a myriad of reasons, and messy adaptations are the least of their problems. But it certainly didn't help.

The Dark Knight Returns is a story with a rich history behind it, and part of the reason it worked is because of that history. Some parts are easy to copy and paste, but a majority isn't. And The Dark Knight Rises and BvS are prime examples of that.
