Yesterday marked the last day of South Western Railway’s class 455s in service. 455732 and 455721 can be seen doing the honours of being the last 455 pair booked to run in passenger service.
It’s sad to see these go, especially considering what they’re being replaced by… they’ve been on SWR for as long as I can remember and it really won’t be the same without them. Going to Waterloo and not seeing them at all will be strange.
Although this is the last booked pair, it’s not for certain that it won’t happen again considering the reliability of the Aventras. The 455s are staying in storage for a bit, so who knows maybe we will get a few more 455s? Even though they will not be booked diagrams!
Anyway, enough of me waffling… enjoy the pair of 455s departing Woking possibly for the last time. With some tones too!
This pair had just finished working the 23:20 service from Waterloo to Woking (2F73).
