Pagliacci is an Italian opera in a prologue and two acts, with music and libretto by Ruggero Leoncavallo.
Act 1 - A troupe of comic actors comes to town. Canio, the leader of the troupe warns everyone not to flirt with his wife, Nedda, or face the consequences of his jealousy and rage. Nedda is secretly having an affair with Silvio. Tonio meddles in everything delighting in everyone else's misery.
Act 2 - There is great excitement for the comedy to begin. In this comedy, the trusting husband is deceived by a faithless wife. As the play becomes a mirror of real life, Canio is pushed too far and the comedy becomes a real-life tragedy.
