This case highlights the successful management of a 34-year-old woman diagnosed with hyperthyroidism due to Graves’ disease. She presented with palpitations, weight loss, tremors, anxiety, and heat intolerance. Examination revealed a diffuse goiter, mild exophthalmos, and atrial fibrillation. Laboratory results confirmed suppressed TSH, elevated T3/T4, and positive TSH receptor antibodies.
Treatment began with methimazole and propranolol, providing both biochemical and symptomatic improvement. Over 12 months, thyroid function normalized, atrial fibrillation reverted to sinus rhythm, and her quality of life improved significantly. Mild side effects were managed with dose adjustments, while lifestyle changes—stress reduction, sleep hygiene, and dietary iodine control—supported recovery.
This case demonstrates the importance of early diagnosis, evidence-based therapy, and multidisciplinary care. Methimazole remains the preferred first-line therapy, with beta-blockers offering rapid relief from adrenergic symptoms. Regular follow-up and lifestyle modifications were essential to achieving sustained remission.
The patient’s perspective emphasized initial anxiety but later confidence as symptoms resolved, energy improved, and normal daily activities resumed.
In conclusion, comprehensive and personalized management of Graves’ hyperthyroidism—integrating drug therapy, cardiac care, and lifestyle support—ensures long-term remission and improved quality of life.
