30 cm of Hydrophobic expanded Perlite (11,81 inches)
Same or better insulation properties as EPS insulation.
Perhaps better due to seamless insulation and the fact that Perlite does not accumulate any water over time. EPS is known to accumulate water over time.
If compressed as shown approximately 15%, long time bearing load will be about 5000 kg/m2 or 71 psi
17% compression 8000kg/m2 or 114 psi.
If just walked upon until firm, bearing load will be approximately 4000kg/m2 or 57 psi. That is more than enough for average private house in Sweden.
To compress Perlite requires geo textile and welded mesh reinforcement, and of course a solid ground wall of sorts. It can also be made by stomping/walking to kompress.
