I got a grinding sound, much more noticeable at startup, that seems to come from the VANOS.
I did different tests in this video to check if it's really the VANOS:
VANOS on, clearly audible with RPMs drop
VANOS off, no noise, no RPM drop
VANOS on again, less audible, still some RPMs drop
Intake VANOS off, no noise nor RPM
Exhaust VANOS off, no noise nor RPM
VANOS on, noise not too loud but audible at the beginning
VANOS off, no noise nor RPM
VANOS on, RPM drop but not too audible
The issue is most audible at startup.
I'm going to run another test with cold engine and disconnected VANOS to be sure it's coming from there.
For now, it seems like the VANOS is the culprit?
