'Cordial and Contentious: William & Kate’s Caribbean Tour 2022'

In March 2022, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge undertook a week-long tour of the Caribbean, taking in the nations of Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

All three recognise the British Monarch as their head of state.

Prince William and Catherine were well-received by many local men, women and children for engagements focused on culture, health, education, and the environment.

However, the tour to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee was often met with angry protests in countries which still bear the scars of slavery, and are considering republican futures.
