The Folsom High School Jazz Choir, from Folsom, California, and directed by Curtis Gaesser, has won the DownBeat award for Best High School Jazz Choir 22 times since 1991.
They have won every major jazz festival competitions many times over, and have performed at the North Sea, Umbria, Montreux, and many other European jazz festivals. They have opened for the Swingle Singers, Chick Corea and many other renowned artists over the years.
They first performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1991 as the winner of their division at the Next Generation Jazz Festival, and have appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival 23 times since 1991.
