India’s government is moving fast to prevent a possible LPG supply crisis.
Amid growing concerns that the West Asia conflict could disrupt energy supplies, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held an urgent review meeting with Chief Secretaries and police chiefs of all states and Union Territories.
The Centre has asked states to tighten security around LPG bottling plants, distribution networks, and transport vehicles, while closely monitoring supplies across the country.
Authorities have also been told to take strict action against hoarding and black-marketing of cooking gas cylinders, and to track rumours on social media that could trigger panic among consumers.
Meanwhile, refineries and oil companies have been instructed to increase LPG production and prioritise household supply to ensure families do not face shortages.
The government says there is no immediate shortage, but it is stepping up monitoring to keep the country’s cooking gas supply stable during the global energy uncertainty.
