The end of February 2022 saw the east coast of Australia decimated as a large-scale flood event unfolded. Rainfall records were smashed across eastern Queensland and northern NSW, with over 30 locations registering more than 1000mm or 1 meter of rain in a 3–4-day period. Mount Glorious, just northwest of Brisbane, registered more than 1700mm during this period. This led to major flooding for all rivers and creeks across the region causing havoc amongst the millions of people along the east coast. Sadly, flooding in this region also claimed several lives as well as thousands of properties to be inundated by flood waters.
This footage was captured to the west of Brisbane and at my mother’s place which was sadly impacted by these floods. Thankfully, the flood of 2022 fell about 3 feet short of the 2017 event at mum’s place.
