Nepal Communal Clashes: 3 Dead, Army Deployed As Violence Spreads Beyond Sunsari

Описание: Communal clashes in Nepal have left three people dead and many civilians, protesters and security personnel injured. The violence began in Sunsari district near the Indian border after a dispute over loud music and religious flags during a Hindu religious procession in Devanganj. The confrontation soon escalated into clashes between Hindu and Muslim groups.

Police opened fire while attempting to disperse the crowd, killing two Hindu men. A third person later died during protests in neighbouring Siraha district. The unrest has since spread beyond Sunsari, with violence and protests reported in Siraha and Dhanusha. Arson, vandalism, stone-pelting and clashes with security forces have damaged vehicles, shops and private properties.

Authorities have imposed curfews across several sensitive areas. Police, the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army have been deployed, while helicopters are being used to monitor the situation from the air.
