Sikkim state in recent days has witnessed some major shifts in terms of employment and self-employment opportunities. Despite various odds and challenges , the entrepreneurs of the state are coming to the forefront with various innovative ideas and inventions, the story of achievements and celebrations are no less too. Thus, Sikkim Chronicle, an independent digital media platform of Sikkim is organising the first edition of Sikkim Chronicle Entrepreneurs’ Conclave to understand the various aspects, scope, odds, challenges of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Sikkim.

Sikkim Chronicle Entrepreneurs’ Conclave is scheduled to take place on May 29-30 at Ramada by Wyndham Gangtok Hotel and Casino Golden

The two days event is the presentation of Travels Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS), co-organised by Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Cell, in partnership Atal Incubation Centre Sikkim Manipal University Business Incubation Foundation (AIC SMU TBI Foundation), Sushma Productions, powered by Ramada by Wyndham Gangtok Hotel and Casino Golden and co-powered by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited.(IFFCO)

The event is also being supported by Sikkim Express, EastMojo, Northeast Live, Karma groups, Lagstal Studio, Suyen groups, Footprints Holidays, The Eight Story, ITS Fibernet, Roosh Productions, Demarg Advertisers, Young Indians Sikkim Chapter and Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management, Hyderabad.


“The tiny Himalayan state of Sikkim in recent days has seen a major boost in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. To create a healthy ecosystem for entrepreneurs, many young minds, organisations and policy makers are striving to delve into the subject. Sikkim at present has seen the booming numbers of entrepreneurs working in diverse sectors, thus the event will be the first of its kind in Sikkim where entrepreneurs and stakeholders will come on a single platform to talk about various issues pertaining to entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Sikkim” added Yougan Tamang, Co-founder of Sikkim Chronicle.
Travel Agents’ Association of Sikkim (TAAS) President Sonam Norgay Lachungpa firmly highlights the prime intention of the conclave. Lachungpa states “Sikkim in recent days have been doing really well when it comes to startups and entrepreneurship. Sikkim is a state in northeast India which is bordered by Bhutan, China and Nepal and has a dramatic and breathtaking landscape.The state’s prime revenue depends on the tourism industry thus this conclave will also have a through discussion on the opportunities within the industry and the means to work with various other startups and entrepreneurs to further boom the tourism industry. Two exclusive panels in the conclave will be dedicated to tourism which shall have stakeholders talk, discuss on the odds, challenges and solutions of the emerging tourism industry of Sikkim. TAAS is proud to associate and partner with the event. We are here to support and build a viable entrepreneurship ecosystem in Sikkim”.
Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Cell is the co-organiser of the event. “SEED is co-organising the entrepreneur conclave with Sikkim Chronicle because we want to reach out to the global audience through the media platform and highlight the initiatives of the present Government, and the progressive policies framed for the entrepreneurship growth in Sikkim. Through the media platform we also want to share various stories of entrepreneurs and their individual and collective growth.
Sushma Productions Founder Sushma Gurung calls the conclave the need of an hour. She further adds, “when the entrepreneurship is taking a huge leap to strengthen the economy of state, the conclave like such will surely help us understand the various pertaining issues of entrepreneurships in the state. The conclave will also have through discussion on films, media, entertainment and fashion which has never been discussed on any platforms through entrepreneurship prism before, thus I am looking forward to the event”.
The only incubation centre in Sikkim, Atal Incubation Centre Sikkim Manipal University Technology Business Incubation Foundation (AIC SMU TBI) is also partnering with the conclave.
“We are interested to include the excluded, strengthen the included and also deepen and widen the pursuit of startups and entrepreneurs who are working in the state of Sikkim, thus through this conclave we want to help one in the entrepreneurship journey” adds AIC SMU TBI Foundation CEO Dr Tej Chingtham while speaking on the conclave.
