This is a recording of selected 78 rpm records in my collection. It took awhile to do, and originally intended as a mix CD for my car, I thought it sounded good enough to share with the rest of the world, and that this, amongst my youtube pages, was the best place for it.
Roy Smeck needs no introduction; a virtuoso of multiple instruments, his impact on not only music but culture in general of the 1920s, 30s, and pre war 40s was quite profound. As someone who tries to play hawaiian guitar, I've always enjoyed Roy's steel guitar playing the most. I hope the rest of the world enjoys it as much as I did making and listening to this compilation of a true genius of the hawaiian guitar in his prime.
