To make the opening of our album ‘2095’ big and theatrical we wrote an orchestral intro, using a technique called ‘orchestral programming’.
We found that starting with a bang was a bit too much so Roi dug into his immense collection of samples and sent two sounds which we used as ‘risers’.
Stefan absolutely loves movie soundtracks, and for the brass part he felt inspired by Hans Zimmer compositions where he creates a big wall of sound in which the brass section is very dominant. The Twelve Horns and Monster Brass sections from @cinesamples.official are so great for this!
To give it that big sound we added the Tuba but it didn’t feel HUGE yet. To get that epic brass sound we added a Monster brass section which consist of a lot of Tuba’s and Contrabass Trombones stacked together.
We tried to stay away from percussion as much as possible, to have a bigger contrast once the beat kicks in. But for that 👊🏼 ‘in your face’ impact we added Taiko, Low and very Low drums. We added a Tam-Tam for a bit more high end ✨ You’ll also hear a Timpani and Cymbal roll during the crescendo. Great sounds, with the help of @spitfireaudiollp
We put all of those elements together for the intro of our song ‘2095’ which later won the @3voor12tilburg ‘Song of the Year’ award! We are so grateful for that 🙌🏼
