How to Detail a Half Million Dollar Car | 1965 Shelby GT350

Over 3 days of work and filming went into this detail project with no paint left unpolished. The goal was to provide viewers with a step-by-step process on how to correct paint and remove scratches and swirls on a high stakes vehicle. With a worth of a half-million dollars and being over 50 years old, there are many precautions that go into a detail of this nature. Anthony took on this project after detailing an identical '65 GT350 (as seen in the video). The car was thoroughly inspected to make note of any imperfections or problem areas to be cautious of. Again, there are smaller margins of error with a classic car like this. From there, the tools and products were all strategically used to provide the best paint finish possible.

Anthony incorporated a variety of tools and products into this detail that all served a specific purpose. The Rupes and Porter Cable polishers were the main workhorses of the process. Whereas the The Last Cut Compound, and Hyper Polish did the magic with the Lake Country Pads. The Scan grip lights provided the perfect lighting for scratch and swirl removal and the final paint review. Finally, an assortment of The Rag Company microfiber towels were implemented for each step in the process.

We had a lot of fun with this video and as Anthony said, it was truly a blast from the past. A couple tings to note, we HIGHLY recommend that you have some sort of business insurance when detailing a high value car. Also, a paint depth gauge should typically be used if you are not aware of the paints condition. You may also want to tape off trim and other exposed areas if you are working with more "dusty" compounds.
