How Scammers Can Hijack Your Verification Code

Описание: Scammers have found a way to get past verification codes! Do you know the telltale signs of a scam call?

you know how an app or a site is trying to verify that you are you by sending a code?
well scammers found a way to use that against you!

here's a simplified version of how the scam works you get a call from a credit card fraud division warning you about a suspicious transaction they offer to cancel the transaction but in order to verify your identity they need you to read back a code they will text you what actually happened was they hit reset password on the official credit card website and selected the text message verification option because the text message was sent to you they need you to read it back to them once you read the code back to them they are able to reset the password and lock you out

there are many variations of this scam they may pretend to be someone who wants to buy the phone you listed on Craigslist and they want to verify you are a real person or they can even pretend to be one of your friends they found on Facebook and claimed they just got a new phone and they entered your phone number by mistake while installing whatsapp

the key thing to remember these codes should be kept private and never share them with anyone no matter what!!!!
